Welcome to the Cultivate Speaker Series! At the conference, we'll have a variety of workshops that offer tools to equip and empower your faith journey. Speaker Series is an interview-style editorial about each speaker at Cultivate.
Let's meet Guadalupe C. Casillas, learn more about her breakout session (The Unconditional Love of God) and, how God has been working out this in her life.
Guadalupe has a deep love for Jesus. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, she has encouraged those around her to come to know and experience the amazing love of God. She will be speaking on The Unconditional Love of God and her prayer is that you will be blessed and encouraged in your journey with God!
Tell us about you and your family.
I was born in Nicaragua and came to California at the age of 16. I met my prince charming here and we have been married for 38 years! We have two wonderful grown sons, and enjoy going out with them! We also have a beautiful granddaughter who just turned thirteen years old.
I love leading women's Bible studies. My Bible study book, "How to Love God with All Your Heart - A Personal Journey & Testimonial Bible Study Guide was published by Inspire Press on 2015. I'm currently a Speaker for Stonecroft Ministries, an international evangelistic organization for women.
Tell us about your faith journey.
I grew up in a Christian home and learned about Jesus, but it wasn't until I was twenty-five years old when I had depression and anxiety that I discovered who He really was and how much He loved me. This took place when I said yes to the invitation to attend my first Bible study. During those first months my heart began to melt out of love for Him.
When you were asked to speak at Cultivate, what was your first reaction? Why?
I was thrilled and delighted, because I knew it had been God who prompted my friend, Laura, to ask me.
When you heard what you would speak about, were you surprised by the topic that was asked of you? Why or why not?
I was not surprised and was well pleased that Laura would ask me to speak about my favorite subject, which is to speak about the unconditional love of God. I love Him so much!
Looking back up to this point, how has God worked out this topic in your own life?
Oh, He has been so patient with me! He taught me to trust Him and love Him with all my heart. I say patient with me because at one point my heart was bitter toward Him because I felt ignored when He wasn't answering my prayer request, or so I thought. I resented Him and even began to doubt His existence. God is so faithful and patient and through a series of experiences and through the study of His Word, He began to warm my heart and showed me His unconditional love and sweet grace, until it melted with love for Him.
In what ways do you struggle with your topic?
I don't struggle with His love and character anymore. I used to, but I had to learn some lessons on trust, obedience, and total surrender. I'm free in His Love and I love to share about how amazing He is . He is always there. His love is relentless!
How has God worked in your life to overcome some of this?
Worry and fear of the future were some of the things that overwhelmed my life as a young mom. I was living in the future instead of enjoying the moment. The many years of staying close to Jesus through Bible studies and surrounding myself with strong Christian women have been my constant defense against anxiety. Jesus is my peace and I need Him every second of my life.
What do you want women who attend your breakout session to walk away with?
I want them to walk away feeling perfectly loved! I want to unmask the enemy who lies to them and might be telling them that they are not worthy of God's love or that they are not good enough. I suffered many years from believing those lies and now that I know the truth of God's perfect love, I am compelled to tell others so they can experience the abundance of God's love and grace.
What are you most excited about the conference?
To see the faces of the women who will attend and to see what God's Holy Spirit has in store for each precious woman who will enter the sanctuary and walk away feeling refreshed, renewed and perfectly loved. I'm praying for that!
What if our entire community came together and intentionally put aside time to equip and cultivate their relationship with Jesus?
Cultivate what matters, learn how to nourish your soil, tend your garden of your heart, harvest contentment and grow in the wait. To live a life of purpose, set apart for Him.
