Welcome to the Cultivate Speaker Series! At the conference, we'll have a variety of workshops that offer tools to equip and empower your faith journey. Speaker Series is an interview-style editorial about each speaker at Cultivate.
Let's meet our keynote speaker Jill, learn more about her breakout session (Pure Trust) and, how God has been working out this in her life.
Jill Gambetta is a mom to four amazing teenagers, and wife to her “absolute most loving husband” of 24 years. In the past year and a half, Jill has walked through some dark trials and looks forward to sharing what Pure Trust in the Lord looks like and how it brought her back into the sunshine.
Tell us about you and your family.
I'm a wife, married for 24 years to my rock Dario. I'm a Momma to four kids ( Gianni 19, Nico 18, Gianessa 16, Giordano 13) and our sweet lazy Lab Chloe. I'm a registered nurse and fitness and health lover.
Tell us about your faith journey.
Challenged and strengthened as life has taken me off course these past couple of years. I am constantly reminded daily that miracles continue to unfold around me. Taking a pause in the midst of busy days to witness them, even ever so small. And being so appreciate and thankful that God is ever so faithful.
When you were asked to speak at Cultivate, what was your first reaction? Why?
Nervousness at first. Then, inadequacy to feeling like could I give God enough glory, enough praise during this talk. Needing to continue to pray that I am a well equipped vessel.
When you heard what you would speak about, were you surprised by the topic that was asked of you? Why or why not?
Yes and No. Honestly the feeling of knowing that there is such a large picture of my family with God's hands and his pulse over the miracles that were performed and still continue to perform. But was my story the story that needed to be shared? Each of our lives is a story in itself and each one of us has a chapter that's darker than the others. Was mine the story to share? But I'm reminded of this community filled with love that brought complete strangers together whether dropping off meals, praying amongst small groups, or while talking at the many gatherings at the hospital. Believers and non believers in awe of God's faithfulness. Trust and the trenches. And how one will lead you out of the other.
Looking back up to this point, how has God worked out this topic in your own life?
That He is continuing to work it out. I don't have a son that is back to himself prior to the accident on November 12, 2016. But I see a son that is walking, talking, driving and starting college. Trust is continually evolving in my own walk in Faith. That God will not leave him stranded now. Daily trust needed that his scrambled brain, cell by cell, is continuing to repair itself. That Gianni will be able to navigate through life on his own and that he realizes that his dreams are still in reach.
In what ways do you struggle with your topic?
"Trust" I will continue to test its boundaries on difficult days where I am unsure of God's plan for my son Gianni.
How has God worked in your life to overcome some of this?
Constantly reminding myself that God tells us that we will face trials. He doesn't promise these trials to be easy but He does promise us that by trusting we will find His grace, His assurance that He will be there for us. This transcends peace.
What do you want women who attend your breakout session to walk away with?
That these trials that we are promised will bring dark days, maybe even dark years. But by digging in to His promises and trusting that He will see you through it. But brace yourself. You will be called off the shores and into the waves. The life vest might not be enough. Trust will be.
What are you most excited about the conference?
Looking forward to seeing a bunch of beautiful familiar faces and meeting new ones too!
What if our entire community came together and intentionally put aside time to equip and cultivate their relationship with Jesus?
Cultivate what matters, learn how to nourish your soil, tend your garden of your heart, harvest contentment and grow in the wait. To live a life of purpose, set apart for Him.
