This means war!

THIS MEANS WAR! Series Part 1 of 4 Acknowledging there is a war.

Main Truth: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:12‬ ‭NIV‬‬).

Over the last week, I’ve heard 5 different times about the subject of Spiritual Warfare. This happened the week after Cultivate Courage. There is no coincidence in this.

I believe this past week, God has been warning me about an upcoming battle. I know about this war and have seen the tactics of the enemy as Sisters In The Spirit planned Cultivate Courage over this past year.  Yet, tired and exhausted, I still took the bait…

But first, let’s acknowledge that this Spiritual War exists. Here’s some backstory of what I’ve learned about it...

Satan and his army are fighting hard to destroy everything God stands for. Satan’s aim is for God’s love, His faithfulness and His character. Satan cannot destroy God and he WILL LOSE, all the more, he and his army will aim hard to destroy God’s family.

Jesus says Satan’s goal is to seek, kill and destroy (John 10:10). Seek, kill and destroy unity, love, marriage, family, purity, dreams, aspirations, our God given purpose...everything God is for.

Scripture says, ““For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:12‬ ‭NIV‬‬).

Unfortunately, we are born into this war. And as we become closer and closer to God and grow in our faith, we become more of a target. You can spend time asking why, maybe even asking why God would allow this to happen. I know I have. But asking why sometimes does nothing more than make us more susceptible to the attack.

I have never been in a physical battle, but I can safely say that if I was on the battleground, asking why this war is happening would do nothing other than get me killed. On the battleground, we need to ask, “how am I going to defend myself and those around me.” The plan is to fight, both defensively and offensively!

God says there is a war for your heart, mind and soul all throughout Scripture. God also says He is on our side and NO ONE can stand against us.

Even though we cannot see this spiritual war going on, we can however, see the fruit of it.

The fruit of evil (and our sinful flesh), according to Galatians 5, includes sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like.‭...and the like! This is not an exhaustive list, these are just some examples.

Turn on the news, it’s like Satan’s headlines of evil fruit repeated over and over.

This post isn’t meant to make you cower in a hole or stick your head in the sand and hope  this war doesn’t exist. This post is meant to point out the war. To take a peek behind the curtain and help you acknowledge the very real war over you and your family’s heart, mind and soul.

Revelation 12 says, “Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring—those who keep God’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus.” ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭12:17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Over these next couple weeks, I’ll show you that even though Satan comes to destroy; with Jesus, we are able to fight from a place of victory!

Stay tuned for how the enemy picked a fight with me, won that fight, but then I declared war!
