Main Truth:”...For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.” Galatians 5:16-17 NIV
Like anything, there are ebbs and flows to cultivating your faith. One moment you’re on fire and just want to know more, be more, act more. Another moment, life sweeps over you and your fire becomes a slow sizzle. This is normal. Growing your faith takes intentionality and is a daily act of surrender to God.
Did you know that The Spirit and your flesh are constantly battling for your mind and heart?
“...For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.” Galatians 5:16-17 NIV
Your flesh is our sinful nature - our default disposition without the Spirit. The Spirit is received once we accept Christ to reign over our life.
Be encouraged that "[God] is your constant source of stability; He abundantly provides safety and great wisdom; He gives all this to those who fear him.” (Isaiah 33:6)
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)
Cultivating your faith is a life-long process. The key component is reading His Truth (the Bible) for yourself, whether it a verse, a chapter, or a whole book. Just start. He is waiting to talk with you!
