Main Truth “So I decided there is nothing better than to enjoy food and drink and to find satisfaction in work. Then I realized that these pleasures are from the hand of God.” Ecclesiastes 2:24
This month, we looked at the surface of what the Scriptures say about wisdom and contentment. The previous posts can be summed up as without God, wisdom and contentment is pursuit of self. With God, wisdom and contentment is the pursuit of Him. So what if you pursue God?
At the conclusion of Ecclesiastes 2, Solomon realizes when he pursues God in all he does, he can enjoy the blessings and the fruit of his labor for all the pleasures are from God. In other words, we pursue the Giver, not the gifts, to find wisdom and contentment.
“For who can eat or enjoy anything apart from him? God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to those who please him.” Ecclesiastes 2:25-26a
Instead of pursuing true wisdom and contentment for the sake of being happier, you will truly find them when you pursue God.
